Home Alone places players in the role of a young person left at home for the evening while their parents attend a formal dinner. The premise seems simple: complete the chores assigned by your parents, and the rest of the night is yours. However, as you move through your tasks, subtle disturbances suggest that something isn’t quite right. The ordinary turns into something unsettling as the night progresses.

Gameplay Features and Controls

The game is a short, horror-focused prototype with simplified mechanics that emphasize atmosphere. Players control their character using WASD for movement, the left mouse button to interact and advance dialogue, and the right mouse button to zoom in on details. A pause menu can be accessed with the P key. The gameplay combines light chore-based tasks with moments designed to unsettle and challenge the player’s sense of safety.

An Experimental Horror Concept

Developed in just one week for Brackeys Game Jam 2022.2, Home Alone reflects its creator’s early experimentation with game design. The focus is on building tension through atmosphere and simple interactions rather than complex mechanics. The game draws inspiration from horror titles such as Fears to Fathom and Puppet Combo games, using minimal resources to create a sense of unease.
